Tutorials

Feel free to browse my tutorials. I love sharing my passion with others and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have! Feel free to comment or email me (thatfarmgirlteacher@gmail.com) if you have any additional questions. Let me know if you have any special requests for tutorials, I would be happy to help to the best of my ability! :)

(Actually, almost all of my tutorials come from reader requests, thanks for letting me know what you need help with!)

Crochet Tutorials:

I learned to crochet from my grandma and mom when I was a child and have completed tons of different patterns. While crochet is my first love, I also enjoy knitting and knooking (knitting with a crochet hook) and have recently begun spinning my own yarn! Some of these tutorials accompany patterns I created, others are answers to questions readers have emailed me with. Enjoy!

 Teaching Kids to Sew:

My love of sewing developed when I was a child. I was lucky to have a mother and grandmother interested in sharing their love of sewing with me. For this reason I so often choose to pass my passions to the next generation. If you are interested in learning to sew yourself, or you're trying to teach the child in your life to sew, please check out these posts. You're welcome to leave comments or email me if you have any questions about what I do, or if you are stuck and need help yourself. :) May I suggest you check out this post first. It describes several reasons I love and teach sewing!
Sewing Club:
I began a sewing club at my school for third, fourth, and fifth grade students. These posts describe the projects/lessons I have done, worksheets I have used, patterns we have completed, etc. You are welcome to use patterns/worksheets I have created myself for free. These are great beginner projects that are perfect for ANY age level, whether you're teaching yourself or children in your life, or you're just looking for that perfect pattern! :)

 Formal Wear:

I recently finished my sister's prom dress and I tried to include as many photos and tutorials as possible. I found I was constantly googling things for this dress, so I hope that if you're working on a formal wear garment right now this will be a detailed resource. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like assistance with!

Like what you see?

I'm often asked if I will make custom projects or sell my work. The short answer is, yes.
My patterns are always free, but I do charge for projects mostly to cover the cost of resources, and my time. Basically, if you see something you like and want me to make it, I'd be happy to talk to you. The best way to contact me is through my email thatfarmgirlteacher@gmail.com. I can make nearly anything and I've had people in the past send me photos of what they're interested in. Time to make it, cost, and more can be discussed through my email and varies greatly based on what you'd like made.
I also sell my hand spun yarn at our local Farmer's Market. I don't really sell yarn online because my inventory varies greatly, however if you know you want something specific, I can usually work something out with you, again, just send me an email.
